Digests A Thought from CMI God is Revealing Himself through His Son Wednesday, February 20, 2008 "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (John 17:3 NKJ) God created us so we could know Him. He wants to reveal Himself to us so we can become intimately familiar with Him. He wants us to know His attitudes, His feelings, and His emotions. He wants to share them with us. He wants us to know His mind, His thoughts, and the way He thinks and reasons. He wants us to know His desires and His likes and dislikes. He wants us to know His will and His plans and purposes in all He is doing. God wants us to know that He created all things through His Son. The Father had in His mind the plan and the vision for His creation. He communicated these thoughts to His Son, who always lived in His will. The Son spoke the words of creation. The Holy Spirit then moved, based on the words of the Son, and the creation came into being. Jesus came to reveal God’s eternal plans and purposes to us. He came to give us eternal life--the very life of God that was in Him and in His Father and the Holy Spirit. He came to unite us with that life, by showing it to us as He lived in it. He came to communicate that life to us by providing the way for us to be freed from the life we were born with, which wants to live for the pleasures of our body and of this world. He came to show us the blessedness of living in a higher life, a life in communion with the heavenly life of God. He came to give us a life that lived with an eternal perspective in mind. He came to give us a life that was focused on bringing the heavenly life into us and then into the earth God is eternal, He is and has always been. He always will be. He is united with Himself. His whole Being is, has been and always will be holy and righteous, filled with compassion and mercy. Each member of the Trinity is united with Himself and with each other. They are that way; they have been that way; they always will be that way. God created us with the ability to have that life in us, and to have that life communicated into all of our beingbour spirit, soul and body. Jesus died to take the old life out of us. He was raised so that now He can reign in heaven and impart Godbs life into us. The Bible says that as we focus on Him, living in His heavenly glory, we are changed from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). As more of the heavenly life enters us, we will want to become free from more of the old life; His life then enters the places just emptied, and the process continues. The life of Jesus in us causes us to love the life of God in heaven; God then imparts His eternal, heavenly life into us in a greater way, and we become filled with God’s life. This is our eternal destiny in Christ, so that we can become one with Him as He is one with His Father. Then we grow in knowing our Father and His ways and desires for us, as does His Son. God’s will becomes our will, and we desire and are able to do and be all God has for us in Christ. Glory be to Him! Father, we rejoice that You want us to know You. We rejoice that You have provided the way for this to come into us through the life of Your Son living and working in us by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to stay focused on the glorified and resurrected Jesus, and to continually receive His life into us. Blessed is Your name, O God! Amen.
