Forget Not All His Benefits "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and
forget not all
his benefits: There is a God. He wants to bless us. He wants us to know Him. He wants to communicate with us through our spirit. He wants us to trust Him, and to enter into His plan for this world. He made it for His purposes, and created us to rule with Him over His creation. Man sinned. Sin allowed Satan to establish His reign over man. Sin allowed Satan to bring sickness to men and to hold them in bondage to it. Sin enslaves man. The sin of man is passed on from one generation to another. Sin deadens man’s spirit. He loses His ability to communicate with God. Sin leads to death.- death to our spirit - death to our relationship with God - eternal separation form God and His plan for us and His creation. God wants to remove sin and its effects from man and from His creation. God sent His Son. He died for our sins. He took our sinful ways on Himself. He suffered the penalties of sin for us. He overcame the human bondage to sin and its curses. We need not be estranged from God. We need not suffer the affliction of our parents’ sin. We need not have our sins passed on to our children. We do not have to suffer sickness because of sin. We can have a life that is able to communicate with God- a life that is able to know and do His will – a life that is able to bring about His rule on the earth by serving others and helping them to enter into God’s plan for their lives – a life that is able to reign in victory over sin and over the kingdom of Satan. There are many benefits God has for those who will follow Him. We can bless Him out of a heart of gratitude and out of a spirit that knows Him and His beauty and holiness. We can live in appreciation and appropriation of all His benefits. We can do as the psalm writer says. We can bless the Lord and forget not all His benefits when we know His as the one who forgives us all our sins and who heals all our diseases. Back to TOP |
